A thousand litres of water is a great deal to keep clear, and doing it well means giving each type of filtration its own space rather than mixing everything into one chamber. The 2000EF+ external aquarium filter runs at 2000L/H and divides the work across four separate layered baskets, each holding a different filter material, so biological, mechanical and chemical filtration all take place in their own stage. A 9W UV system is built in.

The principle is the same as an internal powerhead filter, but the unit is positioned outside the tank. Water is drawn in through an inlet tube and returned through an outlet tube fitted with a spray bar, which increases aeration within the tank. Nothing unsightly is left inside the display, and the media capacity is far larger than any internal filter can offer - which is why this style of filter suits much larger tanks.

Filtering through the provided media gives a much improved level of waste-free water, strong biological purification and active control of your water characteristics. The layered basket system is easy to get into, making it very simple to customise your media choices to suit your aquarium and livestock needs.

The built-in UV steriliser exposes passing water to lethal doses of ultraviolet light, killing, sterilising or otherwise irreparably damaging many micro-organisms. Water is pumped slowly past the UV light, which is sealed inside a quartz glass sleeve designed to allow the maximum amount of UV to pass through the water.

Maintenance is very easy. The drip free shut off tap lets you move the filter away from the aquarium to another area more suitable for cleaning. Each media basket lifts easily out of the unit, rinses over a sink or likewise, and returns to the filter unit to continue its operation.
