AllPondSolutions 24w Pond & Aquarium UV Steriliser CUV-224

Ponds of up to 16,000 Litres move a lot of water past a UV lamp very quickly, and contact time is what determines whether the ultraviolet does anything useful. The AllPondSolutions CUV-224 addresses that with a helix built into the case: water is made to spin as it passes rather than running straight through, which keeps it in front of the UV for longer before it exits the outlet.

That more-even exposure is where the increased efficiency comes from, and it is why the Ultra Violet Clarifier remains a key element of a well filtered clear water system.

The unit is also more adaptable than most. Instead of a single inlet and outlet it has three inlet / outlet's, which is very useful if you want to run the output to a two-fall waterfall, or to a waterfall and a filter together. Three stepped hosetails come with it to fit a variety of hose sizes, and a transparent centre panel lets you check that the UV is fully operational at all times. A separate glass viewport is supplied too, which can replace one of the hosetails if you would rather use the steriliser as a one-in / one-out unit.

Advanced thermal protection is built in: the unit shuts down automatically if it is in danger of overheating, then restarts and continues to operate once it has cooled to normal temperature. To keep it from reaching that point, position it somewhere sensibly cool rather than in direct sunlight or a hot, humid, enclosed area.
