Compare the Willow box bed and Alfie oval bed on shape, size options, and reversible cushions to pick the right luxury dog bed for how your dog sleeps.
Quick answer
Choose the Willow Premium if your dog sprawls and needs open floor space; choose the Alfie Premium if your dog curls up and settles better with curved, cocooning sides. Both come in S/M/XL, so match the size to your dog's stretched-out length, not just its weight.
Shape changes how your dog settles
The Alfie Premium is an oval bed with curved sides that wrap around your dog, giving a den-like feel. The Willow Premium is a box bed with square corners and generous floor space, so dogs that stretch out have room to do it. Neither shape is better in general; the right one depends on whether your dog curls into a ball or lies flat with legs extended.
Both beds have structured high sides for support and draught shelter, plus a lowered front so smaller and older dogs can step in easily. If your dog is stiff or cautious about stepping over a rim, that lowered front matters on either model.
Colour and cushion differences
The Alfie comes in Chocolate Truffle, a deep brown that hides everyday dirt well. The Willow comes in Ivory Cream, a light neutral that shows marks sooner. Both have a reversible cushion, so you can turn it over as the seasons change or after an accident.
On the Alfie, one side is velvety with a longer pile that gently shimmers in use, and the other is soft fleece. On the Willow, one side is velvet with a longer pile, and the other is the bed's own soft fabric. In both cases, check the care label before washing; the reversible design gives you a spare surface while one side is being cleaned.
Willow vs Alfie trade-offs
- Sprawler vs curler: Pick the Willow for dogs that lie flat with legs out; pick the Alfie for dogs that tuck into a ball. The Willow's square corners maximise floor space, while the Alfie's curved sides create a enclosed feel. Watch your dog sleep for a few nights before deciding.
- Colour upkeep: Chocolate Truffle hides dirt and light wear better than Ivory Cream. If the bed will sit in a busy hallway or garden room, the darker Alfie is the lower-maintenance choice.
- Size selection: Both beds come in S/M/XL. Measure your dog from nose to tail base while stretched out, then add a little room; if your dog is between sizes, size up rather than down. The lowered front helps older dogs, but it does not replace correct sizing.
